conference room
a wide sill is the easiest win in the building.
good light, a surface nobody uses, and a wall people stare at for an hour at a time. it's the easiest room to plant and the easiest to get wrong.
interior plant studio · williamsburg, virginia
real plants for commercial spaces. we design and install once, then we handle everything after that.
a ledge under a window. the corner beside the sofa nobody sits on. the gap at the end of the reception desk. most of the time that spot holds nothing, or it holds something plastic that arrived in a box in 2019. we fill it, and we keep coming back so it stays filled.
conference room
good light, a surface nobody uses, and a wall people stare at for an hour at a time. it's the easiest room to plant and the easiest to get wrong.
lounge
open plan rooms need dividing without closing in. a low planted box separates a meeting table from a sofa and still lets the light through.
reception
it's the highest value square footage in most buildings and usually the emptiest. one palm and one trailing plant change the whole arrival.
the private office
the smallest install we do, and often the one people mention first, because it's the room they sit in all day.
the position
the two largest companies in this category will sell you artificial foliage as a named service line. that's a legitimate business and it isn't this one. everything we install is alive, which is harder, and it's the entire reason the maintenance visit exists.
the arrangement
01
fifteen minutes. we measure what the light actually does across a day instead of guessing from the window size, and we tell you which rooms are worth planting and which aren't.
02
what goes where, which containers, the install figure and the monthly figure. it fits on a page because it isn't complicated.
03
we source, deliver, place and clean up, usually before you open or after you close. you come back to a room that's finished.
04
water, prune, clean the leaves, feed, check for pests. anything we supplied that starts to go gets swapped before you'd have noticed it going.
once, at the start

maintenance, no minimum term
you own the plants. the installation fee buys them outright, and replacement stays free for as long as we're maintaining the space. there's no minimum term, so the guarantee simply ends when the service does.
see it in person
we planted the hub here in williamsburg: the kitchen and coffee area, the conference room, and the common spaces between them. floor specimens, planting along the sills, and trailing plants up high, all chosen around what the light in each room actually does across a day.
it's open during the week and you're welcome to walk through it. a photograph only proves so much. standing in a room and looking at the plants months after they went in proves the rest.
questions
where and what
williamsburg, yorktown, jamestown and greater newport news. we're based here, which is worth saying because most companies covering this part of virginia drive down from richmond. if you're a little outside that, ask anyway.
dental and medical practices, law and wealth management offices, retirement community sales centers, boutique hotels, salons, small offices. if a room has people in it and some daylight, it usually works.
yes. we'll keep what's healthy and tell you plainly which ones aren't coming back. plants we didn't supply get maintained but aren't covered by the replacement guarantee, for the obvious reason that we don't know what's already happened to them.
choosing the plants
light first, everything else second. a plant chosen for how it looks in a nursery is a plant on a countdown. we measure what each area gets across a full day and pick from what'll hold up in that.
as much as you want. we'll bring a shortlist that works for your conditions and you choose from it. what we won't do is install something we already know is going to fail in your space.
then the options narrow considerably and we'll say so before you sign anything, not after. it rarely rules a space out entirely. it does change what's possible.
installation
half a day for most spaces. we work around your hours, before opening or after closing, so nobody's stepping over us.
usually one to two weeks from an approved proposal, depending on what has to be sourced. if something's urgent, say so and we'll tell you honestly whether it's possible instead of agreeing and then missing it.
the guarantee
some will. plants in commercial spaces have a finite life, and anyone telling you otherwise is selling something. what we guarantee is that you never watch it happen. every plant is tracked and swapped before it starts looking tired. replacement's free for anything we supplied, for as long as we're maintaining the space.
daniel lee. groundwork is one person, so whoever designs your installation is the same person who maintains it. if that ever changes you'll know before it does, and nobody will be in your space you haven't met.
every two weeks as standard. some spaces want weekly and some need less. we'll tell you which after the first month and adjust the price instead of the promise.
terms
no minimum term. maintenance runs month to month and you can stop whenever. the replacement guarantee runs alongside it, so it stops when the service does.
get in touch
tell us roughly where you are and what the rooms are. we'll come and look, and you'll get one page back with a number on it. no obligation, and no sequence of follow-up emails.
